For the Son of man is come to seek and to save {sozo} that which was lost. (Luke 19:10)
4982. sozo [sote-zo]: to save, to deliver or protect, heal, preserve, do well, be or make whole.
Jesus came to earth to seek and to [save, deliver, protect, heal, preserve, & make whole] everyone who acknowledges that they’re lost and in need of a savior. God desires to save {sozo} to the uttermost (Hebrews 7:25) anyone who will come to Him. God the Father loves you so much that He sent His only begotten Son (John 3:16) to earth to die for your sins. Jesus chose to be obedient to the point of death (Philippians 2:8) to reconcile you to the Father. But there’s so much more to the story.
Being saved from our sins is amazing and is more than we deserve, but salvation goes far beyond that. Jesus was wrongly convicted, condemned to die, beaten mercilessly, had a crown of thorns placed upon His head, & crucified among sinners. The high price He paid for us accomplished many things. The spotless lamb of God shed His innocent blood on the cross to pay the price for our sins. His body was broken to make us whole. By His stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5) When He walked out of the tomb on the third day, He conquered death, hell, and the grave. He defeated the power of the enemy. He overcame the kingdom of darkness & translated us into the kingdom of light. We can now be delivered from Satan and walk in freedom & victory. We can live in the same resurrection power that raised Jesus from the dead.
There are 2 kingdoms battling for you, for your mind, your time, your life, your heart, your affections, your money, your body, & your spirit. You were born into the kingdom of darkness, but Jesus paid your ransom in full on the cross so that you could be translated into the kingdom of light. The moment you said yes to Jesus, your spirit was born again into the Kingdom of God and the process of sanctification (Philippians 1:6) began.
You surrender your life to your Creator and trust that His plans for you are good. (Jeremiah 29:11) You offer your body as a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1) to God. Your mind is renewed (Romans 12:2) daily by the word of God. You set your affection on things above. (Colossians 3:2) You love the Lord with all your heart. (Matthew 22:37) You offer Him your time and money to be used for His glory. But somewhere along the way you realize that there are things in your life beyond your control. You still struggle with sinful thoughts. No matter how much you pray, you just can’t seem to walk in victory over certain patterns & behaviors in your life. You’re plagued with aches, pains, & chronic health issues that weigh you down & make you less productive for God’s Kingdom.
Jesus told his disciples to pray, “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:10) God’s perfect will is done in heaven. His kingdom is established in heaven. Now it’s our job to bring His will and His kingdom down to earth. We begin by praying for it. How do we know what His will is? If it’s His will in heaven, it’s also His will on earth. If something is not allowed in his heavenly kingdom, it’s not allowed in His earthly kingdom either. Sin, sickness, torment, oppression, fear, depression, anger, brokenness, etc. have no place in the life of a child of God. If you have been struggling and longing for freedom, there is hope.
For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. (1 John 3:8)
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. (John 8:36)
